The first American produced martial arts spectacular!
Enter the Dragon should make it. This is the movie that I am proud of because it is made for the US audience as well as the Oriental. This is definitely the biggest movie I ever made. I'm excited to see what will happen. I think it's going to gross $20 million in the US.
Bruce Lee, June 1973
This was the first martial arts movie which was an international monster hit. It cost $200,000 to make and grossed more than $200 million in the US since its release. And it made its leading man an international superstar whom death has not extinguished even after almost 25 years. Jackie Chan pops up as kung fu fodder a few times in the extended underground cavern fighting sequence - he is the one who has his neck broken as Bruce holds on to him offscreen with the camera detailing the enormous effort put in to it. Film also features John Saxon, Jim Kelly, Ahna Capri, Bolo Yeung, Robert Wall, Angela Mao (as Lee's sister) and Shih Kien (Han).
Check the BBC's reasons for cutting the nunchaku scenes from Enter the Dragon: British Board of Film Classification. Interesting that they did not cut them entirely from the DVD of Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story.
