James Garner stars as Philip Marlowe. The film is based on the Raymond Chandler book Little Sister, and the screenplay was written by Bruce's pal Stirling Silliphant. Garner is a private eye who is contracted to find someone's brother and runs into an ice pick murderer. Convoluted shenanigans ensue. Bruce plays Winslow Wong, the strong man sent to intimidate Marlowe. In one of his two famous scenes Bruce demolishes Marlowe's office. A second confrontation ends with Bruce flying off a skyscraper balcony in an attempt to kill Marlowe. (Wong loses his cool when Marlowe disparages his manhood.) Forget about understanding the plot. Bruce's scenes are all too brief, though fun all the same. The rest of the film is OK. Although there is nothing noir about this Marlowe!
