Well, classical music business fans, here it is... the notorious London Chat page, reproduced in most of its vile (but often hilarious) glory for the general information of classical recording collectors. I was able to capture the period of October 11 to 21, 1997 — and The Doc tips his hat to the indefatigable Matthew B. Tepper, who was kind enough to send messages dating from mid-July to October 8, and an anonymous source who got everything through "Lisa Altman"'s post of the 23rd. We're missing a handful of comments from the last day of this page, which was "taken down" by the authorities at PolyGram on the 24th.
WARNING! This page contains language and comments that are racist, sexist, obscene, profane and of a generally denigrating nature — sometimes in one sentence! Enjoy.

Welcome to Talk to London.
If Hyde Park has its corner, then London Records must have its web chat. We've included this area in the new site in response to the many requests for an on-line discussion forum. We hope that you will submit your comments and thoughts through the miracle of technology for others to absorb. Check back frequently as we'll be refreshing this area with new topics. (Feel free to submit any here as well.)
Thank you for your interest. Now, chat-away!

What are your thoughts on the current state of classical music?

I am an 18 year old student at Manhattan School of Music. My major is voice. Classical music is by no means dead. While more and more young people are flocking to their local record store for the latest Smashing Pumpkins or Puff Daddy, the crowd with which I associate myself is salivating in anticipation of the new Don G. with Renee Fleming. One of the problems with the way classical music is viewed these days is that it is made out to be the intangible entity for only the snobby at heart. I have mixed feelings about these "Classical Music for Dummies" recordings. While they draw people into the "Wonderful World of Classical Music," they make it sound as if only highly intellectual people can comprehend the music. That is simply not true. I came out of a high school in Norfolk, VA where opera was taught. My teachers were often criticized by the local public school choir directors for this. How dare they teach opera to young singers. I see no problem with that. It is that mentality that scares people away. Of course they won't sound like Domingo or Fleming(but who does?), but they can have FUN with the lighter repetoire and learn a great deal from the experience. It is so exciting for me to return to the school to visit and see all of these 14-17 year olds discussing the performances at VA Opera and the differences in the interpretations of L.Price and Callas. I should probably stop writing now because I tend to get into tangents. MY MAIN REASON FOR WRITING: When will the Don Giovanni with Solti and Fleming be released? Who is the Elvira? Is London recording the Rusalka with Fleming? Respond at Sweynworld@aol.com or Bratsche1@aol.com or if it's before Aug. 25, pky@mccoy.evms.edu. THANKS!

In the course of buying various CDs in recent years, I find I have amassed a small collection from London's British Collection. I find the combination of content and artwork a great success and I want to know more. Can someone kindly let me know the following: Where can I obtain a catalogue of the full collection? Is the collection still being added to? Who is the artist(s) responsible for the front covers? Please respond here, or I can be contacted on bill@pardoe.demon.co.uk. Thanking you in anticipation.

I have had occasion to visit this site for a number of weeks. Obviously, for those who are interested in the products which London/Decca may have to offer, this site is of no use. However, it was very nice to learn about a Geroge Szell Centennial set being offered by the Clevealnd Orchestra at their web site. Based upon the information which correspondents have provided, I have ordered the set, which appears to have material which is not available on commercial discs. If London/Decca have any interest in serving the record-buying public and in promoting their own product, this site is a bizzare manner of doing so. One would think that the persons responsible for this site would be interested in utilizing it for their company's benefit. However, that is obviously not the case. All that this site appears to offer is a bulletin board on which correspondents can provide information to those persons who may have an interest in classical music, though not necessarily anything to do with Decca/London products. To that extent, it may have some use. However, it is difficult to imagine how those who are responsible for maintenance of this site can justify their existence given the lack of any genuine effort to provide information on their own product.

Can anybody help me with a simple question? How many CD's has Cecilia Bartoli sold worldwide? I apologize for asking a business-type question (hoping to get someone from her CD company, but that looks doubtful). I am also an enchanted fan and heard her at Emory in Atlanta (Anyone else there?). The answer will help me with a presentation I have to make--I need to show that an opera singer can be popular. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Eric J. Carsten ecarste@emory.edu

Brian: Sat, Aug 23, 4:50PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
This site is rather disappointing. I have always held Decca/London in the highest regards for their recording quality, but the utter nonsense of this website greatly diminishes that reputation. This was truly a waste of my time. Totally unacceptable from your so-called "professional" outfit.

Vince Inghilterra: Sun, Aug 24, 9:49AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
I have to agree with Brian. The quality and responsiveness of this website should be an embarrassment to a prestigious label as London. If anyone there cares .......padre@midmonet.net

Paul : Sun, Aug 24, 10:57PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
I can understand why there are so many frustrated visiters to this C/R, but I must say the London "bashing" alone is worth the trip. However, in all fareness to this recording company one should keep in mind the fact that they are a music recording company and provide this space for persons of similar intrest to communicate. Save the bashing for when they stop making great recordings. By the way did I mention that we have just completed a new recording of Beethoven's "Diabilli" Variations in historical temperment? The first such recording of it's kind. It sure would look good on a London lable. (It's the least they could do after I stuck up for them like that, right? Well if anyone else is interested in this late great work of Beethoven, check out www.pshift.com/credo.

Doug: Mon, Aug 25, 1:42AM EDT (-0400 GMT)

When are you going to release the Brahms Beethoven and Haydn recordings of Ernest Ansermet, on CD. To refresh your memory, Maestro Ansermet is the Conductor responsible for establishing Decca/London's reputation throughout the World. Know that you know, why don't you include him on your web page.

Honza@netvision.net.il: Wed, Aug 27, 11:36AM EDT (-0400 GMT)

I've been told that Event Horizon has already been released (release date: August 25th, 1997), but I can't find it anywhere, nowhere on the internet online CD stores, not mentioned anywhere, and nowhere in stores around here. Is there somewhere I can order this??? Or at least a SKU number or something so maybe I can find a way to order it that way. Thanks.

Hello! I'm from Sydney Australia and am am attempting to contact Michael Nyman and the Apollo Saxophone Saxophone. If you can help me GREETINGS!. Please email me jodie@zebedee.me.su.oz.au. I'm not a looney, just a crazed composer wanting to chat. The state of classical music (are we still on that question....I'm new)... The music in the East has developed to such a complex microtonal journey as a result of passing down the traditions of their musical culture aurally. Each generation adds their own ideas, their own wise development, so that only the music of the last generation is every trully remembered. Imagine the state of "classical" music today if this had occurred throughout Europe since the time of Christ? And now we have such advanced technology for preserving every musical episode... will we ever take another step up Liszt's ladder?

Hi there! By now we're all aware that Sir Georg Solti, an Ialmost/I exclusive London Records artist (he did make a few recordings for RCA, CBS, and Capitol), has passed away at the age of 84. P Any guesses as to how the present Web page will reflect this sad event? I can think of three possibilities: OL LIThey will post a thoughtful obituary on Sir Georg's life and career; LIThey will expunge his image and name from this site, 'cause dead artists can't tour and aren't "good box office"; LIThey will simply ignore the event as though it had never happened. /OL The Ibest/I choice would be the first one. I'm banking on number three, although I regret to admit that number two is equally likely. P Any further thoughts? Come visit my A HREF="button of Classical Music"/A page, and/or e-mail me at A HREF="button P See you real soon! P BMatthew B. Tepper/B

First of all, this page NEEDS SOME SERIOUS ATTENTION. I wonder if the recording by Ivan Davis of Gottschalk piano music recorded in 1975 has been released on CD. This is an outstanding recording with fabulous musicianship by Ivan Davis. The record is CS6943 and is titled "Great Galloping Gottschalk America's First Superstar" Actually, Davis is the superstar and the recording engineer John Dunkerley and producer Michael Woolcock simply outdid themselves. bernards@hudson.net

Hi there, this is Al, head of Polygram USA. Do you losers really think we care about your complaints? Shit, all of the money you chuckleheads spend on this classical crap would hardly buy me a noseful of decent blow. We'll update this site if and when we fucking well feel like it, and I can tell you right now that it won't be soon enough for you little crybabies. Why don't you just stroke your little cocks if that's all you want. As for Sholti, big fucking deal! I met him once and he blew me off, the arrogant bastard. Who cares about him now that he's dead? Nobody at the New York office, that's who! Dead guys playing music by dead guys, that's not where music is at. And I've got news for you -- London Records is gonna be unloading all this classical crap, starting in 1998. So you can go whining and bitching to record stores in other companies if that's all you want. Jesus, grow up and get a life already!

i'm looking for some musicians/vocalists/spoken word artists to perform a 20th century work by a Chicago composer. The work is based on the text of William Borroughs -- there are two voice parts, rhythmically complicated and improvisationally pitched, and a piano part. I'm looking for the voices and a narrator, as i play the piano. this piece was performed at numerous composers forums in Chicago and is a real thrill to perform. It is essentially a performance art piece, with costume and theatrical qualities. if rehearsals go well, i'd like to look for venues to expose the piece and any other projects we may progress to. please contact me at dmb224@stern.nyu.edu

An e-mail platform is deperately needed! B.T.W. I'm trying to find a recording ( CD preferably ) under the London Treasury Label entitled "Baroque Brass" -- performed by the London Festival Brass Ensemble. The catalog number of the cassette I have is STS5 15577. Info can be sent to: waara@bignet.net In advance...Thanks LW

Donald Holland: Fri, Sep 19, 10:31AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Your London Records artist list is deficient as it includes only current select artists and not the complete active roster (as opposed to dead artists). I want to use the list to determine if a CD is still in print rather than rely on the Schwann Opus catalog.

Dr. D.M. Jarzen: Fri, Sep 19, 2:13PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
I am looking to purchase a new or VG album London Phase4 with Leopold Stokowski conducting Mussorskys "Pictures...." and on the same album Debussy's "Engulfed Cathedral" It is actually the "...Cathedral" I am after. If any has a copy, please suggest a price. Contact me at dmj@flmnh.ufl.edu. This is URGENT.

Henry Brink: Fri, Sep 19, 4:54PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hello. I downloaded a movieclip O sole mio (Pavarotti duet with Bryan Adams) but when I try to open the file with quicktimemovie is says could not open movie solemio.mov What's wrong with the movie? contact me at badfan@usa.net

Phil Bird: Sun, Sep 21, 7:00AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Gday there. Would your record label be related to the old Decca label ? Reason I ask this..I am keen for the performances of a past Decca artist to be released as a priority.(!) I'm talking about Rosalyn Tureck, who, to my mind at least has never been surpassed in interpretation of the Keyboard works of J.S.Bach. As I remember she recorded the 48 Preludes and Fugues (The Well Tempered Klavier) and I had the old vinyls up to 10 years ago. If I'm on the right track here, how come it's taking so long to have her performances remastered on CD ? Your comment or response would be appreciated.

Art Daniels: Sun, Sep 21, 10:42AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
I have a number of circa 50s and early 60s London recordings by Stanley Black and Ted Heath. Is there a list available of which, if any, of these recordings may have been or will be released on CD? Thanks.

Glen A. Gill: Sun, Sep 21, 2:04PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hey, London. How about releasing Bernard Herrmann's recordings of Faure's "Pavane," Holst's "The Planets," and Honegger's "Pastorale d'ete." These were orginally on Phase 4. My vinyl is worn-out. And do it soon. These recordings are very long over due.

Joseph: Mon, Sep 22, 4:31PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Are there 2 London Records? This site covers the classical, side, but where is the site for all the alternative/electronic bands you have, including FFRR, Payday, etc... thanks

Joseph Stobaugh: Mon, Sep 22, 9:19PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
I think I can see why everyone is so upset with the apparent lack of information on your site. It has been quite some time since Sir Solti passed away and yet there hasen't been a mention of his passing. That dosen't seem to indicate much respect for such an incredible musician. When will the new Don G. with Solti/Fleming be released? There were no dates listed in your new release section. Thanks. jps0011@jove.acs.unt.edu

Danny Goldberg: Tue, Sep 23, 1:52PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hi, I'm the new head of Polygram USA! And I want to say first thing that we are going to keep right on neglecting our classical clientele, 'cause frankly we don't care about you. Al Imperato is to be commended for just sitting around and letting everything go down the toilet. Don't complain about our neglect of Solti because, once again, we simply don't care one bit. Give up, because we will never update this site. Ha ha ha ha hahh!

Art Daniels: Tue, Sep 23, 9:05PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
I am posting this message again, since I forgot to include my email address, which is: adaniels@cre8v.com. Are there any plans to release additional recordings by Stanley Black and Ted Heath on CD? I know that one or two have been released, but I am particularly interested in the Stanley Black "Cuban Moonlight" series of LPs originally released in the late 50s and the Ted Heath recording "All Time Top 12 Billboard Hits" from the same priod. Is there a comprehensive listing of London recordings on CD? If so, how can I obtain it. Thanks.

Dan Calleja, MD: Thu, Sep 25, 7:07AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
I felt obliged to inform you about the inaccuracy contained in your print advertisement for the new recording of I Lombardi with Pavarotti and Anderson. It states that this is the "first ever digital recoding" which it definitely is not. Hungaroton recorded the opera with Sass, Lamberti, Kovats and Gardelli (his second recording) in digital sound during the 1980's. Someone didn't do his/her homework!

Al Imperato: Thu, Sep 25, 3:30PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hey, Doc Calleja, so we lied! So sue us!

nancy cooper: Sat, Sep 27, 10:11AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
this site sucks. I am trying to buy All Things Bright and Beautiful -- London 448 6822. First the web address listed in today's Globe and Mail is wrong, then I spend all thins time trying to get to London Records and then I get this feeble, no content, useless site. london records, what can you be thinking of. If you can have Graham Wright, the producer of Beautiful, write to me, I will be grateful, but I am not holding my breath

Al "The Weasel" Imperato: Sat, Sep 27, 12:58AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hey, Nancy, how's things in Toronto? Yeah, we deliberately planted a fake URL in that paper. You Canadians should have to do a little bit of work to find our Web site. If you don't like it, tough -- we think it's DAMN cool! Spiffy graphics are where it's at, who cares about content? And yeah, I was just having lunch with Graham at Sardi's last week, but I don't know that I'd want to bug him with your request. Love ya babe.

Al "The Weasel" Imperato: Sat, Sep 27, 1:09PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hey, Phil Bird, how's it flying? Nope, Polygram's Decca label has nothing to do with the old American Decca label, nada, zippo. In fact we wanted to call our stuff Decca over here but my fellow paisans over at MCA wouldn't budge. And you wouldn't want to mess with those guys, you know what I'm saying? So now MCA is owned by Eddie Bronfman, but his kind would squeeze a penny until Abe Lincoln sings "Hava Nagila" if you get my drift. So anyway the upshot of all this is that Decca puts out some stuff in Europe and if we want to issue it here we have to print new booklets, change the name on the label, that sort of crap. And I would rather spend the money on lapdances than bring something like the one-CD version of Sholti's Mahler Eighth to you bunch of ungrateful losers. If you don't like it you know where you can take a flying leap.

Danny Goldberg: Sat, Sep 27, 1:11PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Al, you putz! Lay off the ethnic shit or I'll kick your dago ass all the way back to Mulberry Street!

Joseph: Sat, Sep 27, 3:40PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Just <what> is going on here?

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram USA: Mon, Sep 29, 12:25AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hey Jim, you can't, so don't ask. We don't want your stinking money. You hear what I'm sayin'?

joe: Mon, Sep 29, 8:53PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hello there, can anybody hear me??? Does Cecilia have a recording of some rather quaint Vivaldi accompanied by vioilin, violo and cello? If she does, please let me know, I would like to buy it? Thank you very much

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram USA: Mon, Sep 29, 9:02PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hey Joe, we can hear you, we just don't care. Yes, Cecilia is going to record some quaint Vivaldi, which is kind of the point to her singing it in her current tour, don't you think? Naturally we will release it, and we'll up the price by two bucks just like we did with her latest CD. After all, I gotta pay my bills. My bookie, my pusher, and my pimp got expenses to meet too.

Disgusted in Maryland: Tue, Sep 30, 10:58PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
You have a truly dreadful, useless website...I suggest you check out Hyperion or EMI...at least they give you a catalog to look through...

Al Imperato: Wed, Oct 1, 2:05AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Actually, our sister company, Decca, has many great titles in print that we've deleted just because we're assholes! You can, however, order them direct from the UK at prices cheaper than retail in the US from www.mdt.co.uk!!! Just because London records sucks doesn't mean your record collection has to!

Adam Dubin: Wed, Oct 1, 12:39AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
I love this website. Can't stop laughing. Good 'ol Al.

Disgusted in Maryland: Wed, Oct 1, 12:45AM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Who's Solti? That be my question.

Al Imperato: Wed, Oct 1, 1:22PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

I'd just like to say that this is the first time I've ever been on the Internet! Oooh, I'm all a-flutter! And I want you ALL to know that my next series of HIGHly sucCESSful marketing projects will be continuing with the following titles: Telemann for the Toilet; Beethoven for B&D; Fauré for Fisting; and (my PERsonal fave) Prokofiev for Piercing! So toodles, girls! Kiss kiss!

Remaining October 1 to October 8 not available (yet)

Fred Gaisberg: Wed, Oct 8, 9:08PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

So Solti arrives at the pearly gates. St. Peter is standing at the gate. He
looks down upon the bald pate of the new arrival and says "...and just who
might I ask are you?" to which Solti replies "Why, I am Maestro Georg
Solti, conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for nearly two decades,
conductor of the greatest recording of Wagner's Ring in history, Knight of
the British Empire!" St. Peter looks at his list, saying "Solti... nope...
no... well, nuh-uh... sorry boobie, don't see your name here" as he pulls a
lever to his left. The clouds give way under Solti, and he falls down a
shaft for what feels like an eternity, only to land on his butt in what
looks like a cave with flames shooting out of small pools, rows of slaves
toiling, wailing and gnashing their teeth as evil-looking horned overseers
crack their whips. A tall, horned figure with a long, pointy tail looms
over the hapless conductor. "Ahhh... MAESTRO Solti! Or should I call you
Sir Georg! I've been waiting for you!!" His Satanic Majesty reaches behind
himself, dragging out a thoroughly disgusting dodecagenarin-looking old
lady and a pair of handcuffs. "Your punishment" says The Devil as he
handcuffs Solti to the old lady "is to wander these stygian depths for all
eternity handcuffed to this hag. Now begone!" Off walks Solti with the old
bag as Satan shouts "And your Wagner was overrated! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" @------@
A few days later, Solti and his "date" are wandering the caves of Hades
when who should they see but Fritz Reiner. Solti's jaw hits the ground as
they move in closer. "No... it CAN'T be..." says Solti as he sees Reiner's
own handcuffed traveling companion... none other than Marilyn Monroe! Solti
is outraged. He walks back at a frantic pace to the spot where he met The
Devil, cursing in Hungarian as he drags the old wench behind him. "This is
an OUTRAGE!" shouts Solti, the veins practically popping out of his
temples. "I was TOUGH to my orchestras, but not as MEAN as that BASTARD
Reiner! An you have the NERVE to handcuff me to this HIDEOUS old lady when
that SONUVABITCH Reiner gets to spend eternity..." "MAESTRO Solti," intones
the Devil, holding out his hand to silence the outraged Solti, "I will have
you know that Miss Monroe's punishment is no concern of yours!"

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Wed, Oct 8, 11:17PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

I'm getting really pissed at you fucking homosexual classical butt pirates
complaining about London. Why don't you fuckheads appreciate the cds we let
you dimwitted fucks buy. You know why we don't release more of Deccas?
catalog in the US? Because you are all a bunch of fucking culturally
illiterate morons. Look, at least we're one of the few companies releasing
music by white people for while people. Would you rather be buying frigging
negro shit from Def Jam? You know, I think we ought to fuck all you cum
swallowing assholes and sign more rap groups. Sure, you gotta put up with
the female ones bringing their fourteen kids with them, but they bring good
coke and even the fat ones at least suck a mean dick. Fuck all you
assholes. You thinking anyone from fucking London even reads this stupid
shit? Here, in six months this will still be here: I, Al Imperato, Capo of
Polygram, fucked Princess Diana's corpse up its ass, and even dead the
bitch enjoyed it. Fuck you.

Disgusted in Maryland: Wed, Oct 8, 11:38PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Girls, girls! You can be SO "cattivo" at times! Sigh! And here I just
wanted to take a MOment to tell you about the WONNNNderful new Polygram
concept that we're going to roll OUT this winter. It'll be just in time for
Xmas, and a great stocking stuffer! The idea is to cater different
composers to, wait for it, different kinds of NOOKIE! Can't you JUST see
it? The first series of titles will be, now hold onto your panties, Handel
for Homos; Quantz for Queers; Dvorak for Dykes; Muffat for Muff Diving;
Beethoven for Blow Jobs; Schubert for Short Eyes (if you DON'T know what
that means, DON'T ASK! silly!), and the BEST one of them all, Zelenka for
Zipless Fucks! Couldn't you just DIE?????? Toodles, Petey

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Thu, Oct 9, 11:14AM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Hey Disgusting in Maryland -- What was I doing at 3:22 pm? You mean apart
from the 13-year-old Puerto Rican, the swan, and the bong full of crack?

Mariss Jansons: Thu, Oct 9, 3:18PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Swan? ...did someone say "swan"!!!!....could it be the Swan of Tuonela? BE
SURE TO CHECK OUT MY RECORDING WITH THE OPO ON EMI....THAT IS EMI AS IN A
REAL RECORD COMPANY THAT HAS AN ON-LINE CATALOG AND ACTUALLY PAYS A YOUNG
WOMAN TO ANSWER E-MAIL....AND SHE IS VERY NICE.

Jean Sibelius: Thu, Oct 9, 3:24PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Mariss-I,for one ,just love your EMI recording of my Swan......you cannot
go wrong with EMI....BIS,which is recording my complete works, is also
first rate....I am surprised that the English tabloids don't blast DECCA
for naming a fifth rate division of the company after their capital city!

Disgusted in Maryland: Thu, Oct 9, 9:57PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Hey,Al....who is the guy in the trench coat holding the brolly....could it
be the infamous Mr. Imperato about to flash some innocent young
babe?....clean up the act,pal!

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Fri, Oct 10, 2:50AM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Hey, Disgusting in Maryland -- I've got one for you. What's the best thing
about getting a blowjob from one of the Spice Girls? Give up? The answer
is, fifteen minutes of silence. (Or in your case, five minutes!)

Disgusted south of Pa.: Fri, Oct 10, 11:19AM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Al-to quote one of your "classic" replys:"this is a CLASSICAL label, moron!"
...any oral sex on this website should be with the likes of Anne Sophie
Mutter or one of those hot young oriental chick violinists....maybe you can
offer them a "deal" to sign with London....

Big Al: Fri, Oct 10, 1:48PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

But why do we need any of them if we've got Cecilia Bartoli?

Disgusted south of Pa.: Fri, Oct 10, 2:27PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Actually I had in mind Joshua Bell.

R. Peter Munves, Polygram Conceptualizer: Fri, Oct 10, 5:46PM EDT (-0400

Well, why ELSE did you think I SIGNED him? Toodles, Petey-poo

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Fri, Oct 10, 11:56PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Time to get back to answering the questions that you losers keep putting up
here. Art Daniels asked, "I have a number of circa 50s and early 60s London
recordings by Stanley Black and Ted Heath. Is there a list available of
which, if any, of these recordings may have been or will be released on
CD?" The answer is, no there is no list, we don't care whether you want
them, and you have an ass the size of Texas. Next question?

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Fri, Oct 10, 11:59PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Glen A. Gill asked, "Hey, London. How about releasing Bernard Herrmann's
recordings of Faure's 'Pavane,' Holst's 'The Planets,' and Honegger's
'Pastorale d'ete.' These were orginally on Phase 4. My vinyl is worn-out.
And do it soon. These recordings are very long over due." And the answer
is, hey asshole, who the fuck are YOU trying to tell ME what to do? It's
your own damn fault for wearing out your LPs, pinhead. Go play in the
freeway already - your kind makes me sick!

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Sat, Oct 11, 0:01AM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Joseph (no last name, probably didn't know who his father was) asked, "Are
there 2 London Records? This site covers the classical, side, but where is
the site for all the alternative/electronic bands you have, including FFRR,
Payday, etc... thanks" And the answer is, go look for it, shit-for-brains.
Like I got nothing better to do than give you directions?

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Sat, Oct 11, 0:04AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Joseph Stobaugh (Jesus H. Christ on a fucking Harley, another one!) asked, "I think I can see why everyone is so upset with the apparent lack of information on your site. It has been quite some time since Sir Solti passed away and yet there hasen't been a mention of his passing. That dosen't seem to indicate much respect for such an incredible musician. When will the new Don G. with Solti/Fleming be released? There were no dates listed in your new release section." ENOUGH with the Sholti crap already! As you can plainly see, we have SHUT THE LONDON RECORDS SITE DOWN rather than let you piles of garbage try to dictate to us how WE should run OUR business! And you wanna date, I'll call my man Kwami, he'll get you set up all right. You into 13-year-old Puerto Ricans? Swans? Just remember, CASH UP FRONT!

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Sat, Oct 11, 0:08AM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Rule number one is LONDON RECORDS PUTS OUT ONLY WHAT LONDON RECORDS WANTS! There are NO requests! All I need is make one phone call and the master tape is wiped clean - something you should try doing with your ass sometime. Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Sat, Oct 11, 2:51PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Inquisitive in Utah, also calling herself Elizabeth Hatch, asked: "I am a little confused....is this the OFFICIAL London records website...... I was just wondering if you plan to record the Morman Tabernacle Choir anytime soon....I would appreciate a response-thank you.." And the answer is, hey, Lizzie, look at the URL, will ya? This is the real thing whether you like it or not. And yeah, we're planning to do a whole bunch of recordings of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir real soon now. They'll be singing American folk songs and great inspirational gospel choruses - only we're gonna issue this only in the UK! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! And then we'll follow up with a CD of Scientology chanties, which will come out only in Germany. At least that's what our Marketing Wizards tell us to do! going to release them only in the UK!

Readers of this page (if there are any left!) are reminded that the remastered edition of Sir Georg Solti's recording of Wagner's _Der Ring des Nibelungen_ is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, 14 October. However, a BOYCOTT has been called against this item due to London's refusal to make note of Sir Georg's death last month. It is suggested that you hold off buying it, and write a letter to Polygram offices in New York explaining your objection to this shocking omission of simple human decency. Thank you!

Just in case anyone cares, I called the phone # left by"Al" and the guy was falling all over himself, begging me to spare his worthless life, that it’s not him on the London page, that it’s some whack-o using his name, and using the most profane language. His name is Al Imperato but he says he’s just some marketing guy with Harmonia Mundi, and has no idea who’s using his name. At that point I hadn’t even told him why I called, and had to wait while he went and changed his underwear. Poor bastard. Hey "Al whoever you are" some of us aren’t little chicken shits that hide behind their mother's squirt while playing Billy Badass from the safety of oblivion. So either put your real name up there or SHUT THE PHUQ UP. You can E-mail me at Credo@pwshift.com, or call me at 802-644-2797 if you have the guts, but I suspect your one of those "Classical Music wimps" you reefer to, so I won’t hold my breath. Hey,Paul List!Go easy on THE CAPO...he is doing us classical music listeners a service in his own sick, disjointed way...that guy you called should milk this for all it's worth-instead of wetting his panties why doesn't he sue London records for harassment...if the SOBs ever monitered their own website he wouldn't be getting harassing phone calls from the liked of you!!

Yes, and Sir Georg is also remembered on the Chicago Symphony Website at button . But that's not the issue -- it's the fact that his own record label, an outfit he had been associated with for FIFTY YEARS, refused and still refuses to update their site so as to mention his death. That's surely reason enough for a boycott!

Wonders never cease. I have tried to go elsewhere in the London site and have been greeted with "Not Found." I went to the main Polygram site, followed links to London artists (Solti, the Pav, Cecilia) and again got "Not Found." So, it appears that everything at the London site is shut down EXCEPT this chat-line where anyone in the world with a computer and a modem can hurl foul insults at the company with total anonymity! Amazing …

Just trying to figure this out ... I still can’t get anywhere else in the London site. However, I have this chat line bookmarked. I suspect the only way to get here now is directly through the URL, since none of the other London links work. "Disgusted" "Agravated" (sic), are you guys coming here directly, through a bookmark, or what? And where the *%#@ is Al?

Did I scare Al off that easy? I guess that’s what they mean by the power of information. Hey"R in R" and "D in Md." It’s my real #. Yes, I’m that stupid. Hey by the way, what’s with the code names? Don’t tell me let me guess..... now watch as the power of information congeals into astonishing truth. Hum, let me see now........Disgusted in Md. and Rational in Reno. I got it !!!!! You guys are independent truckers and those are your handles on the CB radio. I can just see it now.................somewhere out there..... it’s a dark and stormy night, all the other truckers are asleep. Only the real men are still out there pullin’ their load, (if you know what I mean). There, in a big black 18 wheeler, doin’ 90 mph, is the badest, most feared driver on the road, "Disgusted in Maryland". He’s a big man at 6 foot four, 290 lbs. bushy beard, an old leather cap and a big wada’ Red Man in his blackened teeth. He puts down the Mahler score his been analyzing for the last 200 lonely miles and picks up the mic of his CB. In a low mean voice that sounds like a rattle snake on the rag, he belts out, " Breaker one nine.... Breaker one nine, any of you pusses still out there, you got Disgusted in Maryland, com’on back". He waits for his answer knowing that few men have the spine to swap air space with him. He is truly feared, in fact most of the call backs are from women tryin’ desperatly to lure him into their beds. Such is the life of.... a "legend". He’s about to give up when he hears the one voice that makes his thick skin crawl. "You got Rational in Reno, what the hell is scum the likes of you doin’ round here?" / DM-"I’m Hauling some missiles for Uncle Sam, how ‘bout you?/ RR- "I got some steel headin’ into Detroit. Hey, did you catch A&E last night? That thing they did on Nigel Kennedy was Wild, now there’s a boy with sum faaaar in his gizzard"/ DM- " I was try’n tu see but these three chics I picked up hitchin’ couldn’t keep their hands off my #&^#($%&@."....................../ RR- " I missed that last part, you’ra breakin’ up bad,..over"/ DM- " Daaaag Burn-it, I slobbered tabaca juice on my mic, almost shorted it out, can ya hear me? RR- " I guess the thoughta them three girls got ya dreulin’ ye buddy"/ DM- "Hell no I waz dreulin’ over that boy’s superior ver-choo-asity, he’s got sum fly’n fingers and bow arm to make old Gal-amian proud. Of course that $500,000 ax he’s grindin’ don’t hurt nun./ RR- "Say are you headin’ north? If so, maybe we could hook-up at the Bach Fest. and raise a little hell, what do ya say bro"/ DM- "Hell ya, them Air Force fags won’t miss a couple a missiles for a few days. Hey, in the mean time lets head over to that "Physh" concert and kick sum ass, tell’em all "Gerry’s dead man, park er VWs and get a job!!!!!!"/ RR- " I’m there Man!!!!YYYEEEEEHHHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!............................. Work with me boys, I don’t have the sound crew that Garrison does, but hey am I close? The only other possibility was that it’s how you sign off to "Ann Landers", but I’ll spare you that one. P.S. would someone with a spine please resond.

Hey, I think this room is shrinking, I feel like Luke Skywalker in the garbage bay. "C3PO turn off the crusher, quick". I have a feeling that Al forced them to shut down their web site. It's too bad he had that much clout. Hey London he's gone now, I scared the wazoo out of him. Real men have that effect on wimps (he must like Tchaikovsky). Real men also know when to beg so please don't shut us down. Don't erase that last intro by me, it's a Classic Masterwork. I'm not the "Al thing" and he isn't coming back. So let us little people have our little world. And seeing as I'm in the begging mood, my partner and I have made what is "THE" best recording of any "Beethoven Piano Work". A major American Recordings Mag. reveiwer thinks so too, but the editor may not publish the review because we don't have a lable, so the CD's too hard to get. -Enter London Records- You guys have an oportunity here if you have the forsite to take a chance and look us up at www.pwshift.com/credo if you don't someone else will. But I already feel at home here. Hey if we're left this space we might even chat about the current state of classical music.

Shit, I can't even take COLUMBUS DAY off without you morons thinking that I've flown the coop or something! Okay, now back to the pig-ignorant questions: Larwence (that's how he spelled it!) said, "hello i am a singer and a songwriter does anyone know where i have to submit my materials for recording contract consideration?" The answer is, it's called a couch, and unless you're some dark-haired pussy with big tits you can forget about it. Dipshit.

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Tue, Oct 14, 2:59AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Some fuckhead calling himself "expede" said, "is this site for real? I thought I was posting to a legitimate music company." Of COURSE it's for real, you drop of piss from an old queen's underpants. Look at the fucking URL if you don't believe me. This is actually the server owned by Polygram Records, and this is all that's left of the official London Records page. I am Albert Imperato, and while my title is Vice President of Deutsche Grammophon in the U.S. I am the guy in charge of marketing. I was given this job by my godfather (don't laugh or I'll have your eyes in a shotglass) after my cousin Cenzo screwed me out of some of the more lucrative family business out west. I was going to return to the family estates in Brescia (which is where my father was a planter and fought against the fascists), and then Don Gaetano called me and said he wanted to put me in charge of a record company, just to show I could run it. But he promised that I could run it any way I wanted, and when I found it was a fucking CLASSICAL company I nearly shit my pants right there. So you're looking at one super teed-off paisan here, and if I don't start getting some RESPETTO I'm going to wipe some Clifford Curzon master tapes, and I mean wipe them on my ass after a prolonged shit. So enough of the stupid questions, and if you don't like it you can fuck a donkey for all I care!

That "nutty eyetalion" was better back when he was using his real name (or at least not someone else’s) and E-mail address, crapping on this site and conversing about the Cleveland Orchestra. But somewhere along the way he got confused and thought this was a Q&A forum with The Label, he got more and more angry and finally (just like the time when he killed his mother) something in his toasted brain snapped and he took on this Al persona.-Just a brief history lesson for you new-comers.- Hey"Al Whoever", how’m I doin’ so far babe? I forgot he’s scared of me and can’t bring himself to read my notes. To bad ‘cause if he did he would go to my web site- www.pwshift.com/credo- and read all that lofty stuff I wrote. Then he would have something to blast me with (is this a briar patch RR or what). By the way DM says he’s a Brahms man, Me I’m a Ludwig head, Al-Whoever is in with Tchaikovsky (their doing the "Nutcracker" down in "Swan Lake" as we speak), where do you stand. PS I don't need a publisher, I need a RECORD LABEL.

Now don’t fret I’ll give you a hint, PAUL LIST (boy that "Subtle Writing" correspondence course from "Big Al U" I sent away for sure is payin’off, I guess it really was worth the $19.95 plus three proofs of purchase from Decon). Hey, Mat Tepper is that your real name? Could it be that someone else has a real name? Don’t you know that your in the company of Ax Murderers, Rapist, Hit Men and Philip Glass fans? Pill Lust: Tue, Oct 14, 10:43PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hey, watch your language! The word is "fucking"! Anyway, Classical Insites also has some bulletin boards, and you can put any name you like on them. They've remained cordial so far. I guess it's because the people who post there don't have any reason to be pissed at the site itself. Here on the official London Records site, though, it's a different matter entirely. There used to be BBS pages on the BMG and DGG pages, but those soon filled up with posts saying, "When are you going to reissue such-and-such?" and "Is anybody reading this?" and "When are you going to update your Web site? It's been three months now!" and like that. Eventually somebody spotted what was going on and shut those pages down, never to be reopened. (The DGG one was *supposed* to reopen on January 15, remember?) So that proves that the people at London Records are even less on the ball than everybody else. Thus, they deserve to be humiliated this way.

Pall Lost: Tue, Oct 14, 10:49PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
You've gotta remember that these labels are run by jerks who care not a bit for art, everything for the bottom line. And they come from a pop background, where everything is performer-driven and you gotta promote the hell out of the new stuff by pushing it as hard as possible. Back catalogue doesn't impress these feebs. There has to be some way we can show them that they are fucking it up, that they are losing customers, that we don't care about their current stable of losers. I mean, would the world really be that much worse off without Jean-Yves Thibaudet? I'd rather listen to Wilhelm Backhaus or Julius Katchen or even Alicia DeLarrocha. We've got to find some collective way as consumers to hit them, and hit them good, so they'll notice. Does anybody even care about this, or are we just revelling in "Al Imperato, Capo" pretending to be Harlan Ellison and lancing the London Records fools like ripe boils?

Pull Last: Tue, Oct 14, 10:52PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

We must all hang together, or else we're not going to have piss-all of a choice but "Telemann for the Toilet" and "Commie! the Party Music of Mitya Shostakovich." Who is with me? Anybody? Lets put my powers of reason to work here (take it easy RR, I said reason, don’t blow a head gasket)............ This was all part of the grand design by London; I see it all so clearly now, they set up this chat room like a petrie dish in some genetic laboratory, smear on some yellow matter custard from a dead dog’s eye ( for witch they had to buy the rights from Michael Jackson), and let it simmer in a dark room all hot summer, and then, in the fall, with big steel tongs they reach in and see what they’ve grown. Whatever that is will get sold to the hungry public. I feel so used and stupid....... IT’S ME, IT’S ME, TAKE ME NOW, QUICK BEAM ME OUT ........... sorry... I’m so ashamed.

Asstonished said, "UMMMM, YEA, I GUESS. Tell me, who is Harlan Ellison?" And the reply is, no, no, you got that completely wrong. Its supposed to be, "Who THE FUCK is Harlan Ellison?"

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Wed, Oct 15, 2:44AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Fred Gaisberg said, "Matthew Tepper said: iSo is everybody boycotting the reissued Solti _Ring_ until London Records finally acknowledges Sir Georg's death?/i Bought mine from a mail order service in England (Music Discount Centre) to reward Decca for painstakingly remastering this landmark whilst punishing London Records for treating their own territory like some sort of cultural backwater." And the reply is, you people keep that up and I will wipe every Sutherland master tape out of existence! I swear it!

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Wed, Oct 15, 2:45AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
And remember, these messages are signed by an actual top guy at Polygram on a server owned and operated by Polygram. We alone are responsible for its contents. I will stand by every word I have uttered here or my name isn't Albert Lorenzo Imperato. Swear to god.

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Wed, Oct 15, 2:55AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Shit! None of you pansy-asswipes has bothered to phone me ever since that Pill List made up his asinine story about my being a distributor for ugh, Harmonia Mundi, like I'd share my crack money with those guys! So if you want to call me, call me at the office. (212) 333-8000, ask for Albert Imperato and tell them I said you should call! If some bitch secretary tries to stiff you with some lame excuse, get her fax number and print out this whole fucking page and fax it to the pussy. I don't care. This is for real, this is Albert Imperato speaking to you from Polygram's official Web site. Check the URL if you don't believe me. And I do officially speak for the management of Polygram USA. Capisce?

Paul List: Wed, Oct 15, 8:22AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Al try mixing some Thorozine in with the crack next time, it may help. By the way do you realize that fully 80% of your comments are repeating someone else’s question? This sounds like another problem with music today; a lot of stolen or mindless material added to pump up an otherwise empty offering. You might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later it catches up with you. Well guess what? Clean up your act or I just won’t let you play anymore. I’m pretty sure your witty enough to hold your own without the shock jock crap, but frankly nobody’s shocked anymore, all the nice little readers went somewhere else. So, it’s down to a small core of gritty players, and we don’t shock well. Either re-egauge your God given brain or move on. You'll be a sensation in the rap world, you speak both their worlds; fuck and you (I sincerely apologize for using Al’s favorite word ,but when talking to dogs, sometimes you must bark. It will not be used by me in the feature). WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COCOPHONIE PAL, THIS IS A CLASSICAL LABEL. YOU’RE IN WAY TOO DEEP. Go to our web sight- www.pshift.com/credo.-and check out what your up against. Hey Joshua Bell fights computer dragons, me, I like mine real, with a splash of Tabasco, and a bottle of German beer. So keep being a dragon but but we don't burn, try using your brain. Please E-mail me at Credo@Pwshift.com-

Hey London, would you PLEASE consider opening this page back up and letting in some fresh air. "Al whoever" didn’t wash this month and the air is getting a little thick. I’m starting to get light headed. But if your waiting for the last 2 gladiators left standing to go toe to toe, I’m ready, willing, and able, I just wish I had a bigger crowd in the stands to see me sharpen my boots on The Al-things thick scull. But know matter. .....Al Whoever, if you’ve got the guts, draw your forked tongue, pick your brains out of the sewer and show me what you’ve got. I’ve got more spinal fluid in my finger nails than it takes to send you packin’. At least e-mail me - That’s Credo@pwshift.com just like the last 10 times I gave it to you. I’m beginning to think you don’t have what it takes to compete in this game. Just four letter words. That would be a shame.

R. Peter Munves, Queen of Yuppie Marketing: Wed, Oct 15, 9:44PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Ooooooh, I hope that WICKED Solti story doesn't scroll off before all my special friends can read it!

Fred Gaisberg: Wed, Oct 15, 9:45PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
So Solti arrives at the pearly gates. St. Peter is standing at the gate. He looks down upon the bald pate of the new arrival and says "...and just who might I ask are you?" to which Solti replies "Why, I am Maestro Georg Solti, conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for nearly two decades, conductor of the greatest recording of Wagner's Ring in history, Knight of the British Empire!" St. Peter looks at his list, saying "Solti... nope... no... well, nuh-uh... sorry boobie, don't see your name here" as he pulls a lever to his left. The clouds give way under Solti, and he falls down a shaft for what feels like an eternity, only to land on his butt in what looks like a cave with flames shooting out of small pools, rows of slaves toiling, wailing and gnashing their teeth as evil-looking horned overseers crack their whips. A tall, horned figure with a long, pointy tail looms over the hapless conductor. "Ahhh... MAESTRO Solti! Or should I call you Sir Georg! I've been waiting for you!!" His Satanic Majesty reaches behind himself, dragging out a thoroughly disgusting dodecagenarin-looking old lady and a pair of handcuffs. "Your punishment" says The Devil as he handcuffs Solti to the old lady "is to wander these stygian depths for all eternity handcuffed to this hag. Now begone!" Off walks Solti with the old bag as Satan shouts "And your Wagner was overrated! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" @------@ A few days later, Solti and his "date" are wandering the caves of Hades when who should they see but Fritz Reiner. Solti's jaw hits the ground as they move in closer. "No... it CAN'T be..." says Solti as he sees Reiner's own handcuffed traveling companion... none other than Marilyn Monroe! Solti is outraged. He walks back at a frantic pace to the spot where he met The Devil, cursing in Hungarian as he drags the old wench behind him. "This is an OUTRAGE!" shouts Solti, the veins practically popping out of his temples. "I was TOUGH to my orchestras, but not as MEAN as that BASTARD Reiner! An you have the NERVE to handcuff me to this HIDEOUS old lady when that SONUVABITCH Reiner gets to spend eternity..." "MAESTRO Solti," intones the Devil, holding out his hand to silence the outraged Solti, "I will have you know that Miss Monroe's punishment is no concern of yours!"

Hey Fred, that joke was funny the first time but please, now you’re speaking Java, so don’t waste our space. Lets make some rules, if anyone brings anything back from the past, it must be in the form of a variation on a theme. Such as- Lets see.............. OK, lets break this down............we start with Solti (dead, suddenly too)...........St. Peter...Pearly Gates.......check list....name not here ....Fritz...Marilyn...............-Paul List’s "Fred" Variations Opus 1 in the Key of BS Major- ..............Sir George arrives at the pearly gates, takes a deep breath and walks in. "Not so fast George" comes a kind but firm voice from just inside the gate. He’s an elderly man, that’s obvious by the long gray locks and wise glow in his clear blue eyes, but from the neck down he looks more like Hercules. His halo is so bright Sir George almost misses the gold name tag on his muscular chest. "St. Peter - Rocky" it reads. St. Peter pulls a long scroll from under his robe, ("that explains that bulge" George mutters) and ponders it thoughtfully. Finally, shaking his head, says "I’m sorry Maestro but Heaven is very full these days and to gain It takes an act of truley noble proportion. According to my records you just don’t qualify." "But what about that thing with Duddly Moore", pleads George. St. Peter just shakes his head. Sir George turns and walks away............ "Wait!!" he says, turning back to St. Peter. What about the time I was driving along the highway and saw a motorcycle gang in a rest area. They were beating a lovely blonde woman, so I pulled in, and jumped out of my car. I marched right up to the biggest, meanest, dirtiest one of all. I spit in his eyes, I kicked him in the shins, and commanded in my best Fritz Reiner voice "You Leave her alone". By then St. Peters eyes were wide and he said "that’s extraordinary, just when did this happen", as he searched his scroll. Sir George looked at his watch and replied "oooh, about sixty seconds ago."

Come on Al, where are you?

Bill Gates: Thu, Oct 16, 2:43PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Hey Pau List? Looks like you're shut out! I got in all right?

Greg Barbero, VP London Records: Thu, Oct 16, 4:00PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Just a brief announcement: As of January 1, 1998, the London Records division of Polygram USA will be shut down due to disappointing sales of classical repertoire. Polygram's two other US divisions, Philips and DGG, are also currently rethinking their approach to the American marketplace as of March 1, 1998. It's been a pleasure doing business in the classical field, but it's now time to move on. Distribution of the Decca label in the United States may be taken over by another company to be named later. Thank you. A more complete press announcement will be given to the major industry trades tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

"Al" and "Greg," I’ve been reading your stuff for several weeks now. You obviously have a lot of inside scoop on the recording industry. I’ll get right to the point. I am the author of (among other things) a critically acclaimed and very successful book on classical music. I am with a very highly regarded literary agent in New York. We should talk. I know you must be a little paranoid, considering the implications of what you have posted here. We can communicate by private e-mail in complete anonymity. You can simply assume a new identity with your Internet provider, invent a new handle with an on-line service, or use a friend’s Internet access (this is obviously the least secure of the three alternatives). I won’t know who you are, and you won’t know who I am until we are both ready. I am very excited about pursuing a collaboration with you, based on some of the little jewels sprinkled in your foul but funny satire. I think there’s a good book here. Please contact me at talk2meal@aol.com

Paul List: Thu, Oct 16, 11:24PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hey Greg-Al, NOW you give me the insider scoop. My stock broker went off line an hour ago. But not to worry. I called my good friend "Charlie" (he makes $ the old fashion way, HE STEALS IT) and bought up all available shares of; EMI, SONY, and TELARC. So I'm covered. Speaking of covered..........Greg, baby, you know you’re like a brother to me......Could you float me $5,000,000 to cover the check I wrote. Just till our CD makes it BIG. Hey if you have any reservations about the quality, check it out at TOWER RECORDS in Boston, BARNS and KNOBLE book stores, or call THE NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO MUSIC SOURCE in St. Paul Minn. ask for Tim Houston. Don't worry the call is free and, "A portion of your sale goes to your local Member Station". But what do you care, you’ve got the BBC. Check it out at our web sight.............. pshift.com/credo......... Hey "Talk to Me Al" maybe you could call "Control" and see if you could lease the "Dome of silence".

Greg-Al whoever, if your trying to render me both astonished and speechless your off to an impressive start, but don’t be hurt if I don’t come bounding through the meadow in my prom dress just yet. I’ve been hair dresser for the Medusa long enough to know better. By the way, I really must raise my fee, she’s into mohawks these days and my old Homelite needs rings and a valve job. In lieu of the usual method of ID; retina scan, fingerprints DNA match, and urine sample which, after studying the 317 page MSDS sheet, we find to have a flash point of -216.15 /C, PH factor of 19.5, toxicity comparable to Mercurymethyldioxide, (and is about as stable as "Oprah’s" dress size). So Al I will use the standard "London Chat" ID process. .........The following is a TEST QUESTION ONLY -----Dear London/Decca, when do you plan to remaster Liberace’s recording of Tchaikovsky’s "Rococo" Variations transcribed for Hungarian Meat Whistle. Please respond. For the purpose of this test you will be allowed to ring forth in classic Al form.

Yes, but DGG closed down their chat page last November. I remember that it was replaced with a notice saying that it would return on January 15, and then in February even that notice simply disappeared. Guess we know how well all the Polygram folks keep their promises!

Astonished: Sat, Oct 18, 10:52AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Tormented, Promises, promises! They're incompetents, as Al so correctly stated, which gets us back to the original subject of this chat-line, "the current state of classical music." Well, that state is not good, and is it any wonder? At the very moment that sales of classical recordings began to slump two great new educational and sales tools appeared called "Interactivity" and "The Web" ... and THIS is the best they could do?

**** CAUTION-VIEWER DISCRITION ADDVISED******* Hey Disgusting, it takes more than just a lot of grease in your hair to be "the classiest guy". Take my advise, go in the back room at Harrah's and try a little Russian Ruelette, you've shot enough crap here. By the way men like Al don't need to pay $ to draw the attention of the opposite sex. Although I can understand how you would. Al has proven to be a "Real Man" by his capacity to eat crow. It must be the Thanksgiving spirit in the air, because he also served himself a big peace of humble pie. He has earned my respect (and no doubt a few of the quiet types out there). You know DM there's only one thing worse than a falmouth bully. It's the little toady egging him on from behind. So, without getting too tough on you, I give you this gentle backhand slap, that should knock some sense into you, or force me to draw sword and spill your foul guts on the deck of this Pirate ship we call "London Chat." Commandeer means (as you used it, I'm sure); to take by force. Well DM, I didn't take anything by force, I earned my seat on the Throne. Go back and review the battle, print it up and take it to someone that can read. If you think you've got the stuff to take this Throne, then fight this WEENIE, as you call me, yourself. Don't try to push someone else into doing your dirty work. Al's too smart for your crap. Think about it. DM have fun in Reno, E-mail me at credo@pwshift.com I don't care much for Furtwangler either, and I'm German.****PUBLIC NOTICE**** I claim NO command over the civilized readers and writers in this chat room, just the dogs that need a strong Master to keep them from biting the guests.

Paul List: Sat, Oct 18, 7:50PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Al, we do need to do something about your name. I hereby dub thee"Al Capo-ne." You must admit, it's a clever combo of your old handle and fits with the persona. It will also get you in a lot less trouble. E-mail me Al we need to ski, drink beer, and listen to Beethoven. credo@pwshift.com

Mole at Polygram Offices in New York: Sat, Oct 18, 8:53PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
It's true. The public announcement has been delayed a few days, soas not to cause panic among retailers. But London Records will be closing down its classical operations as of January first 1998. All product will be pulled and SOME of it will be remaindered, don't know exactly which just now. And world has it that Philips and DG will follow the same pattern in March. It just isn't making enough money for the European overseers. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but imagine how we feel, we're all updating our resumes and trying to get interviews with Sony, EMI and Time Warner! You have no idea just how bad things are in the New York office. No idea at all.

Mole at Polygram Offices in New York: Sat, Oct 18, 11:09PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Sorry, it would mean getting fired "with cause" and blackballed from the whole recording industry, and I can't afford that. Just try to get a job when that sort of thing has happened to you. I wouldn't even be able to get a position supplying crack for certain Sony exex....

Al-Greg-Mole, we are talking total anonymity. I know what you're thinking ... you think I'm a Polygram spy trying to find out who YOU are! Think about it ... why have your superiors left this chat line open after shutting down the rest of the London site? They are trying to trick you into revealing yourself. You are much too smart to do that. But don't let your paranoia deprive you of getting your story out. Just send me one e-mail so I can give you my agent's name and telephone number. The sordid history of the decline and fall of the classical music recording industry will be written by *someone* and it might as well be us. And no one will know who you are. talk2meal@aol.com

David G. Porter : Sun, Oct 19, 8:37PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
In 1993 and 1995, Richard Bernas and the group Music Projects/London and pianist Alan Feinberg recorded some music by Charles Ives for the Argo label. I haven't heard anything about a release date, and the whole London company process seems to be slower than molasses. I even called London Records in New York, and the gentleman there said he would send an e-mail off to London UK for info. He never got a reply. If I had the Argo e-mail address (which they seem too chicken to give out), I'd ask them directly. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON WHEN THIS WILL BE RELEASED???? The idea of the CD was to play the chambe versions of the "Sets" and then the song versions. Two singers were used. The music was also played in a 1993 concert which got good reviews. There are even DAT tapes floating about. Sincew some of this is my editorial work (now available for rent from Theo Presser), I'D REALLY LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!!

And the answer is, with the upcoming cessation of London Records operations in the USA, it is highly unlikely that this item will ever see the light of day here. Of course, it could always be licensed to, and issued by, another company, but I'm afraid I wouldn't have any information on that.

And by the way, Astonished, go fuck yourself.

Ventilated in Vermont: Mon, Oct 20, 1:31AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Here's a simple exercise we could perform to FORCE the morons at Polygram to take note of us. First, go to the survey page for Polygram US at button (I think that will show up as "button" but if you click on it, it should work.) Then, on the only lines that allow you to fill something in, type the following words, one to each line: Why have you shut down London Records site? Then click on send, wait until you get a confirmation screen, use your browser to go "back," click on send again, and repeat this process over and over. Perhaps if the person who put in those many lines of zeroes would rather expend that much energy in fucking up the corporate server, we could at long last get the attention of those fuckheads. God, I wish I could crack into their server, I'd show 'em a thing or two...

"talk to me al" keeps begging for somebody to write to him in supposed complete anonymity. He's frustrated because nobody will break their real anonimity, despite his extravagant claims of an agent, movie deal, free blow jobs, etc. Ferget it, "talk to me al," I'm not buying it, and you might as well give up. Let's keep to the topic of this page, which is to bash London Records and even the rest of Polygram so that the person in charge of this server will get his ass royally roasted over the fire when they find out!

No, Java is just time-wasting grey rectangles.

Former PolyGram Mole in Texas: Mon, Oct 20, 11:30PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Anybody who knows Albert Imperato knows 2 things - he doesn't necessarily like girls, and he's actually one of the few bright spots at PolyGram USA. The real problems up there are Chris Roberts - the guy responsible for overseeing PC&J operations (it was he who decided "less was more" in regards to releasing so few albums), Stuart Pressman - nobody on earth knows what this guy does except use big words and corporate-speak that even HE doesn't understand, and David Neidhart who never met a great record he could have cared less about. So Al, lay-off Al and go after the REALLY big phish up there. Oh, by the way, whoever is doing Munves & Barbero impersonations at this site are right on the money.

Former PolyGram Mole ... I would really like to talk to you too. This is not bullshit. There's a good book here, and I can get it written and published. talk2meal@aol.com

Verkakteh in Virginia: Tue, Oct 21, 9:06PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hey former mole, you mean I was right? R. Peter Munves is a real whoops screamer? Well I never!

Tom Israel: Wed, Oct 22, 0:04AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
How much I've enjoyed and appreciated your series of vocal recitals entitled "GRANDI VOCI." I keep looking for additional releases! Some of the artists under contract to your firm who have been overlooked thus far include Robert Merrill, Hilde Gueden, Lisa Della Casa, Gwyneth Jones, and Maria Chiara. I have noted your new series of CD's featuring artists of the Fifties on which three of them are grouped together on one CD. These, too, are interesting, but, please, don't abandon your "GRANDI VOCI" series!

Former Mole in Tx: Wed, Oct 22, 0:07AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
No, Munves is not a screamer. If anything, he's asexual...I HOPE!

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Wed, Oct 22, 1:17AM EDT (-0400 GMT)

You should just mail your money direct to my dealer and the guy who provides me with underaged boys for all I care. We're pulling the plug on this series and if you don't like it you can move to England and eat that boiled meat and drink Irn Bru and do all the other shit those faggots seem to waste their time on. By the way I did Lisa Della Casa in the assa, if you know what I mean. All the time she was shrieking about how I was "Der Richtiger" whatever THAT means. Damn a Guido should stick to the mother tongue, not get into that Kraut puke. Hey by the way did you know there's a country with your name?

Entoisht in Trinidad: Wed, Oct 22, 12:10AM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Hey "talk to me al," nobody is gonna fall for your crap. It ain't gonna happen. Shut up and go away and leave this space for some SERIOUS Polygram bashing!

talk to me al: Wed, Oct 22, 8:09PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Entoisht, You call THIS "serious Polygram bashing?" I am not interested in "bashing" anyone. I AM interested in getting a story (if there is one) to the arts-consuming public. If any of the allegations of incompetence, nepotism, and drug use are true, this is quite a story. Greg/Al/Various Moles, you drown your sorrows and then come here to vent your frustrations to a few dozen people who happen to have bookmarked this page. If you had any sense of duty to the public or any grasp of fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders who pay your salaries you would do SOMETHING other than post your little wink/nudge/giggle insider jokes here on your employer's website. And, by the way, maybe you could tell us how it happened that this chat-line remained open when the rest of the London Records site was closed down two weeks ago. E-mail me. You can talk to my agent within 24 hours. talk2meal@aol.com

Shut up: Wed, Oct 22, 9:12PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Shut up already. Ain't gonna happen.

Hi, my name is Dave Rhodes and not long ago I was just like you. My car had been repossessed, my-- Oops, wrong story. Have you discovered the power of your own mind? Just join the Church of Phenomenology and we will drain your wal-- Nope, not that one either. Hey, lookit that, did you notice that the Ace is the one with the bent corner? The dealer sure didn't-- Sorry, I'll try another one. First time in New York, huh? Well, I'll let you in on a secret. See that bridge over there? It just so happens that I can sell it to you for-- Uh-uh, not QUITE right yet. Did you see what I just found under this park bench? It's a bag with $20,000 in it! I guess we can keep it, we can split the money, right, 'cause we were both here. I'll have to go notify the proper authorities, but that means that one of us will have to watch the money. And hey, I never saw you before, so how do I know I can trust you? How about if we go to your bank, and you withdraw $500, and I'll hold it while you-- Damn, that was so CLOSE! Just let me try it ONE more time! Hi there, I have an agent who can get us a book deal, and all you have to do is write me this one e-mail to talk2meal@aol.com so I'll know who you are. Then the money will come pouring in! YEAH! THAT'S IT!!!!

Al Imperato, Capo of Polygram: Thu, Oct 23, 5:49PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Once again, I want to remind you that the people in charge of this Web site are complete incompetents and deserve to be fired from their jobs, with cause, immediately. If you think so, just phone me at the office at (212) 333-8000. Tell them how potential customers have been asking their innocent questions for weeks, while persons sporting the names of top Polygram USA officers have been answering them with foul language, racial and sexual abuse, bad spelling and bad grammar! And remind them that this has been happening on a server owned by Polygram itself, which means it is their responsibility. That's right, tell them, and you can print out these pages (leave out the "ooooooo" trash that some cretin threw in) and fax them to Polygram's office, and while you're at it, the editorial office of Billboard, to the attention of Heidi Waleson. And oh yeah, London Records is a crappy label whose employees don't know shit and don't give a fuck about their clientele! Yeah, that's the ticket!

Greg Barbero, VP London Records: Thu, Oct 23, 5:52PM EDT (-0400 GMT)

Lisa Altman, VP Philips Classics: Thu, Oct 23, 5:59PM EDT (-0400 GMT)
Yo. Bet you've been seein' all this crap from DGG and London, wonderin' why you haven't anythin' from ol' Philips, hah? That's cuz this lady's been havin' a GOOD TIME! Yeah, well maybe I's s'posed to be in the office all day makin' nice with Peter Gelb and those other bozos, but usually I call in sick and hang around 42nd street lookin' for a quick fuck. My favorite is to take one guy's long donkey dick in my mouth while another does my snatch and a third guy (I prefer blacks 'cause they know where it's at) does me up the poop chute. Wheee-yew! That's a DAMN site better than tryin' to come up with a list of new releases for a bunch of losers who listen to classical music. Anyway that's all I got to say, so see you around, and if you come up to the PolyGram offices and I'm feelin' horny I just might do you on the leather table in the Boardroom. Or if I'm on the rag, maybe you can just take me from behind! Yowza!
